Andrea M. Webster is the Sustainability Coordinator at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF), a graduate student position that will end when she graduates in May of 2013.  In addition to this position, Andrea is seeking a Master of Public Administration at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University (SU); a Master of Science in Environmental Studies at SUNY ESF; and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Sustainable Enterprise (CASSE), a joint program between SUNY ESF, the Whitman School of Management, and the LC Smith College of Engineering. In May 2012, Andrea received the Bristol-Myers Squibb Sustainability Fellowship. Andrea's anticipated graduation date is May 2013.

Andrea's research explores the social side of sustainability by focusing on the exposure that students of color and students from low-income families have to sustainability. She has presented her work at four conferences, both orally and in poster format. Andrea successfully defended her thesis in December 2012.

Andrea currently serves as SUNY ESF's Sustainability Coordinator. In this position, she assists in tracking and reporting through the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) and the American College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment (ACUPCC). Andrea is also working with the Student Affairs office to develop the College's first Eco-Reps program, which launched in the fall of 2012. Before officially starting this position, Andrea assisted the Director of Renewable Energy Systems to complete the STARS program. As a follow up to STARS, the SUNY-ESF administration accepted Andrea's proposal to develop a online searchable database of all courses, including those focused on and related to sustainability. This project is currently on track and the expected launch date is the Fall 2013 semester.

In other positions at SUNY ESF, Andrea assisted the Assistant Provost for Assessment and Academic Initiatives, Dr. Valerie Luzadis. This work entailed advancing the state of assessment within the College and providing administrative support for a research project related to researcher experiences in interdisciplinary collaborations. Andrea's work with Dr. Luzadis also entailed incorporating a campus-wide sustainability assessment as part of SUNY ESF's decennial accreditation submission. She helped the College to develop a sustainability plan as part of this process.

Andrea's participation in the CASSE program has provided her with the experience of working on sustainability projects in interdisciplinary teams, with students from the business school and the college of engineering. In the spring of 2012, Andrea consulted for Gaylord Brothers, a local Syracuse company, to explore the possibility of cradle-to-cradle designs for some of its core products.

At SU's Maxwell School, Andrea has completed coursework in governmental systems, budgeting, statistical analysis, managerial economics, and financial management at nonprofit organizations. Her focus within this program is nonprofit management . In the summer of 2012, Andrea completed her MPA capstone which entailed completing a program evaluation for Say Yes to Education-Syracuse as part of five-person team.

Prior to her graduate level work, Andrea spent three years working for the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) as the Publications and Education Coordinator and Editor of the AASHE Bulletin, a weekly e-newsletter on campus sustainability news, opportunities, and events with over 10,000 subscribers. During her time at AASHE, she released three publications: AASHE Digest 2007, AASHE Digest 2008, and AASHE Digest 2009.
